Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The snow that fell overnight and black ice on the roadways have closed schools in several counties, including Davidson County and several eastern counties in the mid-state.

Metro Nashville Public Schools transportation director said black ice in the Hillsboro and Cane Ridge areas led to announce the closure on Friday.

Drivers can expect some black ice on the roadways as well.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation had crews out overnight putting salt on the roadways and checking for slick spots. They will continue to monitor the roadways throughout Friday morning.

Dawn temperatures included 18 degrees in Nashville, 24 degrees in Knoxville, 25 in Memphis, 30 degrees in Chattanooga and 23 degrees in Bristol.
