Two Men Wanted In Credit Card Scam

Posted: Updated:

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Two men are wanted for allegedly stealing credit card numbers and scamming businesses in Rutherford County out of thousands of dollars.

Modesto Cabo-Sanchez, 26, and Carlos Delpino, 22, both from Florida, were arrested earlier this week in Smyrna. Both posted bond, but now are wanted by the Secret Service.

Authorities believe the men stole credit card numbers, created fake credit cards and then bought thousands of dollars' worth of gift cards. So far, police said they targeted Walgreens, K-Mart and Walmart in Smryna, but other businesses may have also been scammed.

The men were arrested after Smyrna Police received a call from Regions Bank Security on Wednesday about the two men using fraudulent credit cards in the area. An officer was able to stop their vehicle, based on a description, at a car wash near the Walgreens in Smyrna where they had most recently used the fraudulent credit cards.

After posting bond, officials said they took off without paying the bondsman.

Cabo-Sanchez was originally charged with theft and criminal simulation. Delpino was charged with criminal simulation.

The Rutherford County Sheriff's department, Smyrna Police and the Secret Service are all involved.
