SHERMAN, Texas - Country singer Randy Travis pleaded guilty Thursday to drunken-driving after a bizarre incident in Texas.
Travis received two years of probation and will have to spend time at an alcohol treatment facility. Under Texas law, the charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in jail and a $4,000 fine.
Travis was naked when he was arrested following a single-vehicle accident Aug. 7 near Tioga, about 60 miles north of Dallas. Authorities have said his blood-alcohol level was more than 0.15. The legal limit for driving is 0.08.
Travis' spokesperson said in a statement:
"Randy Travis is moving beyond the matters of 2012, and looking forward to the opportunities ahead this year, including his concert tour that will begin on March 1st. He is inspired and encouraged by the continued support of his friends and fans."
