Antioch Middle School To Undergo $8M Upgrade

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A middle school that has been in service since the days of segregation will undergo an $8 million upgrade.

Antioch Middle School has been in the same building since 1952. Community members stopped by to look at architectural designs for the new building on Thursday night.

One of the plans involves moving the entrance away from Blue Hole Road, which has become a busy roadway since the school was built.

The estimated $8-million project will include the installation of a new sprinkler and humidifier system, and also additions to security.

"When this building is finished, we are going to add decades to the viability of this building. And also, improve its energy efficiency," said architect Neil Hinson.

Construction is planned to begin in June, and will take about sixteen months.
