NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Metro Nashville Schools debuted a new way to share details on their snow day decision making process Friday.
Friday morning, school leaders added a ‘Snow Patrol' photo gallery to the schools system's Flickr photostream. The photos were taken as crews from the Metro Schools Transportation Department surveyed roads and road conditions.
School leaders said crews drive on ice and snow covered roads and search for potential trouble spots that could endanger school buses and cars traveling to or from school. Teams then report back to and the Communications Department alerts the media and posts the information online.
Metro Schools previously shared snow photos through the MNPS.org website, but said that using photo sharing site Flickr made the process a lot easier.
The new availability of the photos on Flickr from the Snow Patrol crews gave parents, teachers and other school leaders an inside look at the areas which caused school closings. The 20 photos provided photos received over 1,000 views each.
