NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The snow and ice Mother Nature left on roads Saturday morning snarled traffic across town as dozens of people got into fender benders as a result of the bad road conditions.

In Franklin alone, officials say there were 38 traffic accidents Saturday morning. Even drivers who weren't hurt in crashes say this snow took them by surprise.

"When you lose control, you feel like you have no control over your life at that moment," said Quenton Borroughs, a driver who was involved in a traffic accident on Saturday.  "I just embraced myself and prayed, everything turned out okay."

TDOT says people need to obey simple advice when it comes to icy weather.

"The best thing people can do again is stay home if you don't need to get out. The driving conditions when you have rain, sleet and freezing rain, it gets treacherous out there," said Deanna Lambert, with TDOT.
