NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police arrested a hit-and-run driver who was involved in several incidents over the span of about 10 minutes on Sunday night.

Police said 31-year-old Anthony Ewin hit another car on Brick Church Pike around 10:30 p.m., and then drove through a field and hit a telephone pole in his efforts to get away.

A passerby stopped to help, went over to the car, and tried to pull him out. According to police, Ewin kept driving. The driver involved in the original crash saw the struggle, pulled a gun, and fired at Ewin.

Ewin then managed to drive a short distance, before crashing again into a ditch.

He attempted to run from the scene, but both drivers chased after him. The woman who had tried to pull him out of his vehicle called police, and was able to tell police where Ewin was.

Ewin was taken into custody, charged with DUI, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police said the driver who fired shots will not face any charges.
