Clarksville Officer Saves 65-Year-Old Woman From Burning Home

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A Clarksville Police officer saved a 65-year-old woman her from her burning home.

Officer Seth Paugh heard the call about a fire on Blaine Court on Tuesday morning, and was the first to get on the scene. Neighbors told him the car in the driveway belonged to the woman who lived at the home.

Officer Paugh could not see inside because the windows were blackened from the flames. He kicked in the door of the home, got down on hands and knees and saw someone laying on the floor of the living room.

He crawled toward the woman, and pulled her toward the door before carrying her out of the residence.

Janie Inman was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Investigators think a candle may have started the fire inside the home.

Other Clarksville officers were credited with saving a man from a house fire Monday. Unfortunately, another man inside the home did not survive.
