16-Year-Old Killed, 11-Year-Old Injured In Marshall Co. Crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Tenn. – A 16-year-old driver was killed and an 11-year-old passenger was injured in a crash in Marshall County on Wednesday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the two vehicles crashed on State Route 64 (Shelbyville Highway) near Lewisburg around 7:30 a.m.

Investigators said 16-year-old Jackie "Trey" White III was driving a pickup truck eastbound when he crossed the double center line and struck the back left side of another pickup pulling a trailer that was traveling the opposite direction. The pickup also struck the trailer during the collision.

Trey was killed in the crash. His 11-year-old brother, Liam White, was a passenger in the car; he taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Vanderbilt officials said Liam was discharged Wednesday afternoon.

Officials believe the Trey was likely headed to drop his brother off at school. Trey was a sophomore at Central High School in Shelbyville, and Liam attends Liberty School in Shelbyville. The schools said they would have extra counselors on hand to speak with students.

Officials said the boys' family had just moved from Athens in November.

The 44-year-old man driving the other pickup truck was not hurt.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
