La Vergne Officers Involved In Shooting

Posted: Updated:

LA VERGNE, Tenn. - Police in La Vergne were involved in a shooting Wednesday night. Officials said officers fired shots at a man's car during a pursuit.

Officials said La Vergne Police received a domestic call just before 5 p.m. from a home on Cedar Glen Mobile Home Park. A man at that home was threatening suicide and holding a woman with him.

When officers arrived at the home, the suspect took off in a car. Police were able to rescue the woman before the man left the scene. The suspect was spotted minutes later on Murfreesboro Road, but wouldn't pull over. The suspect ended up leading police back to the mobile home park and speeding toward officers on the scene.

A La Vergne officer fired shots at the car in an attempt to stop the suspect. No one was injured, but the man attempted suicide after getting out of the vehicle. He was stopped by an officer and taken to the hospital.

Police have not released whether or not the suspect was armed with any sort of weapon. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the incident.
