MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis police said two men have been charged in a shooting in front of an elementary school.
Police said 35-year-old Terrance Tillman tried to take his daughters, ages 5 and 2, from their mother as she dropped them off at Sherwood Elementary School on Thursday.
The 27-year-old mother then stabbed Tillman. The children were not hurt.
Police said Tillman then ran to his car, retrieved a gun and began shooting. A man who had been in the mother's car, 19-year-old Harold Gales, exited the vehicle and began shooting at Tillman.
No one was hit by the multiple bullets fired.
Gales was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and carrying a weapon on school property. Tillman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and carrying a weapon on school property.
