Man Arrested Again On Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor Charges

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man has been arrested again after being indicted on multiple charges after police found hundreds of images of child pornography on his computer.

Dexter Mason was booked into the Montgomery County jail on 21 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, four counts of aggravated sexual battery, and one count of tampering with evidence.

His wife, Mary Mason, was also arrested after being indicted on one count of tampering with evidence.

Dexter Mason had previously been arrested in December after police originally found the images on his home computer. Police said there was an attempt to prevent detectives access to a computer associated with the investigation.

Mason was also charged with sexual battery after police discovered that he had inappropriately touched two juvenile females.

Police said their investigation began in August when DCS referred an allegation of sexual battery against a minor to them. Detectives seized three computers from Mason's home during the execution of a search warrant. The computers were turned over to the U.S. Secret Service, who found numerous images of prepubescent children engaged in sexual activity or simulated sexual activity.

Mason retired as a manager in the Probation and Parole office in Clarksville in September 2012. His position included supervising others with the goal of making sure sex offenders were complying with state law.

When he was first arrested in December, NewsChannel 5 attempted to speak with him at his home, but he declined comment except to say, "I'm doing not as well as I would like."

Dexter Mason's bond was set at $30,000; Mary Mason's was set at $10,000.
