HUMPHREYS COUNTY, Tenn. - Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run after a woman's body was found along Interstate 40 in Humphreys County.
A trucker called the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office around 6:30 a.m. Saturday to report a body in the median near mile marker 137.
Police identified the victim as 45-year-old Janice Kelley from Nashville.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said it appears Kelley's car broke down and she left the vehicle to walk for help. Investigators found debris from another car near the accident, but don't know who hit her.
THP officials said Kelley may have been hit around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
