46-Year-Old Woman Killed In Mobile Home Fire In La Vergne

LA VERGNE, Tenn. – Officials have identified the victim in a deadly mobile home fire in La Vergne early Monday morning.

The State Medical Examiner's Office said 46-year-old Melinda Edwards died in the fire which broke out just before 6:30 a.m. inside the mobile home in the 300 block of Old Nashville Highway.

Edwards was found deceased inside the home, which had heavy flames when first responders got on the scene. Her specific cause of death was not released. 

Officials said a man was taken to the hospital, but his condition was unknown. It was unclear if the man was inside the home. His identity was not immediately released.

Because of the death, the state Bomb and Arson Investigation team of the State Division of Fire Prevention was called in to investigate.
