JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Union University officials said the school's campus in Jackson has been closed until Wednesday due to an outbreak of stomach illness.
University spokesman Tim Ellsworth said about 300 students have reported suffering a stomach sickness. Ellsworth said most of the ill students come from the university's residential population of 1,100.
A statement posted on the university's website said all classes at the Jackson campus, including undergraduate and graduate classes, have been canceled.
The library and wellness center also have been closed.
University President David S. Dockery said the goal is to limit further spread of the illness and address health concerns of the students.
Classes were scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Ellsworth said the campus has a total of about 3,000 students.
