Police Say Man Gave Ride To 14-Year-Old, Asked To Touch Her

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police arrested a 54-year-old man for picking up a young girl at a local bus stop and trying to molest her.

Joseph Newsome is charged with solicitation of a minor, after police said he picked up a 14-year-old and offered her a ride to her middle school.

Police said he asked the teen if he could touch her sexually, told her he would like to be her "sugar daddy" and offered to buy her a cellphone.

According to an affidavit, Newsome said he gave the girl a ride, but denies the rest of the story.
