Convicted Felon, Gang Member Wanted In Manchester Shooting
MANCHESTER, Tenn. – Police said a convicted murderer and known gang member who is wanted in a weekend shooting should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
Manchester Police said John O'Keefe Varner is wanted on an attempted first degree murder charge in connection with a shooting that occurred in Manchester on Saturday. The details of the shooting were not immediately released.
Police Chief Mark Yother saiud Varner was convicted of second degree murder and connected to another murder back in the 1990's.
"Consider him to be extremely dangerous and we do feel like he is a threat to law enforcement as well as the public and we want to get him off the streets as soon as possible," said Chief Yother.
Police also said Varner is a known member of the Crips gang.
Varner's last known location was Tullahoma. He was believed to be driving a 2006 White Ford F150 with Tennessee license plate number 706-YDC.
Varner has ties to Chattanooga, Nashville and Memphis.

Varner's girlfriend, Natalie Marcelle Smith, has been arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact for allegedly misleading police.
