SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. – A Sumner County jail inmate has been charged with trying to hire someone to kill a witness in the case against him.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 63-year-old Frederick Lee Dietz was indicted by the Sumner County Grand Jury on one count of solicitation to commit first degree murder.
Dietz was being held on drug charges when investigators received information that he was attempting to have a witness in his case murdered. He also made comments to associates not to interfere in the murder plot.
Dietz was served with the new charge in jail on Tuesday. He remains at the Sumner County Jail on $250,000 bond.
