Police Seek Cab Driver Who Drove Hit & Run Victim Home
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Investigators have been searching for the taxi driver who picked up 32-year-old Livia Smith from an East Nashville bar and drove her home. Smith's body was found lying in an East Nashville road.
A passerby saw Smith in the middle of Barclay Drive near Brittany Drive in East Nashville just after 5 a.m. Wednesday. Police said she died from apparent head trauma. She also had injuries to her knees and hands.
Early autopsy results indicated Smith was hit and killed by a vehicle that then left the scene. Smith was found just one block from her home.
Officials were also working to put together a timeline of exactly what happened.
Smith was last reported being seen alive outside an East Nashville bar earlier in the morning and went home in a yellow taxi van.
Investigators wanted to speak with the cab driver to get more information about the timeline of exactly what happened.
They have not determined why Smith was in the roadway.
Anyone with information about Smith's death or the identity of the cab driver has been asked to contact the Metro Nashville Police Department's Emergency Communications Center at (615) 862-8600.
