Locals Take Action To Prevent Gun Violence

Posted: Updated:

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - A group in Rutherford County gathered on Friday to speak out against gun violence.  The group is sending letters to local lawmakers in hopes of raising awareness about the dangers of guns.

The letters were delivered to Congressman Scott DesJarlais' office.  "We want to stop gun violence and we want to stand for universal background checks as a first step to help protect the people in our communities," said Rebekah Mhaors-Manley with the group Standing Against Gun Violence.

A candlelight vigil was also planned to honor people who have fallen victim to gun violence.
