FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn.- It took nearly four hours to successfully rescue a man who was trapped in a cave in southern Tennessee.

Officials say around 5:30 Saturday evening, Steven Toushton, 21, was on a cave exploration in Sherwood with a group from Georgia Tech when he fell into a hole 40 feet deep. He was with other people who immediately called for help. Officials say Steven was able to communicate with rescuers the entire time.

Once they got to him, he was taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He is suffering from several broken bones.
