FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Schools in Williamson County remained closed on Monday despite the fact that an employee wanted for domestic violence was taken into custody after a manhunt.

The Williamson County Sheriff's department took Jeff Vaughn into custody on North Chapel Road near Trinity Road just before 10 p.m. Sunday.

Vaughn was accused of shooting at his wife and children Saturday night at their home on North Chapel Road. Police said Vaughn fired a shotgun at the wife and children as they got into a car. His wife was treated and released for pellet wounds and flying glass wounds. The children were not hurt.

Authorities said he ran from his home and deputies had been looking for him since around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Williamson County Sheriff's department credited the NewsChannel 5 crew that was reporting from the scene with leading authorities to Vaughn. Our crew spotted a man who fit the description and called authorities. The Sheriff's Department said that tip directly led to Vaughn's arrest.

"NewsChannel 5 saw him walking down the road and called one of our people," said Sheriff Jeff Long. "We were able to get the cars out and get him into custody."

Sheriff Long said Vaughn did not resist arrest.

"He was not armed at the time. One of the deputies confronted him placed him under felony arrest, got him into custody, got him into the back seat of the car," Sheriff Long added.

According to Williamson County Schools, Vaughn is a maintenance employee of Williamson County Schools.  School officials had originally closed schools for Monday because Vaughn has keys to the buildings. According to school spokesperson, Carol Birdsong, Williamson County schools will be closed on Monday to eliminate any confusion.
