Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Metropolitan Nashville Police officer discovered the body of a 74-year-old man underneath his vehicle on Monday night.

Officers who were in the area of Richard Evans' Alamo Place home on another call found him trapped under his PT Cruiser in his driveway. The jack that had been used to lift the car was found lying on the ground near the passenger side.

Police believe he was working on his vehicle when the jack slipped out, and the vehicle fell on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors told NewsChannel 5 an elderly couple lived at the house.

Police said there was no evidence of foul play at the scene.
