Name Change For Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -  The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation made a big announcement on Tuesday.

As part of a rebranding campaign, the non-profit has decided to change its name to Pearlpoint Cancer Support.  The new name is an effort to reach out to more people and become a nationally and even internationally known foundation.

Country comedian Sarah Cannon, better known as Minnie Pearl, founded the organization 25 years ago.  The organization's offices still have Cannon's stamp on them, including a dress worn by Minnie Pearl hanging on the wall.

In addition to a new name, President and CEO Susan Hosbach announced a new website with new tools and resources.

"The website is a medically-vetted website that is there for patients and caregivers," said Hosbach.  "Doesn't matter where they are or what time of day.  It is there for them."  The site includes an in-depth cancer library of information, and a way to save and bookmark information on a personal online dashboard.

Hosbach says all resources available through the organization have always been free and that is not changing.
