Man Killed In Crash In Maury County

MT. PLEASANT, Tenn. - A crash early Sunday morning claimed the life of a man in Mt. Pleasant. The crash happened at Ashwood and Canaan Roads just after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said the man's car flipped down an embankment and into a creek. A passenger escaped alive, but the driver, Matthew Williams, 21, died in the crash.

Mt. Pleasant Police say an officer spotted the car speeding moments before the crash. The officer said by the time he pulled out to stop the car, it had already crashed. Police say Williams was not wearing a seatbelt.
