La Vergne High School Victim Of ‘Prank' Bomb Threat

Posted: Updated:

LA VERGNE, Tenn. – Sheriff deputies and bomb squad members searched La Vergne High School over the weekend after what they said was a prank bomb threat was written on a wall.

Officials said a message written on a bathroom stall was discovered Friday after students left for the day about a bomb going off at the school on Monday morning.

School officials notified the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office. Deputies and other law enforcement agencies responded to the school and conducted an extensive search Saturday and Sunday.

Nothing was found. Officials believed the message was a hoax.

There were additional officers on hand at the school Monday as a precaution.

Some parents apparently saw the additional officers and became concerned.

An email sent to parents by high school administrators said the school was not on lockdown and would proceed with a "normally scheduled day."
