NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southwest Airlines has announced plans to add a daily nonstop flight from Music City to Pittsburgh.
The direct flight has been scheduled to begin service on September 29.
Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority president Rob Wigington said Nashville continues to attract flights to new destinations for nonstop flights.
"This is a big win for Nashville International Airport, as we have heard time and time again the need for nonstop services to Pittsburgh," Wigington said in a statement.
With the addition, Southwest officials said they now serve 32 direct destinations out of Nashville. The airline company has added flights to Panama City Beach, Boston and other areas in recent years.
According to airport officials, Nashville International Airport is served by 10 carriers. Around 380 daily arriving and departing flights operate from 47 air carrier gates. Nashville International provides direct air service to 52 markets.
