One Person Killed In Putnam County Fire

BAXTER , Tenn. – One person was killed when a duplex in Putnam County caught fire.

Firefighters were called to the home on 3rd Avenue North in Baxter, about 10 miles west of Cookeville. The fire started around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

One person was inside the home when it caught fire and was unable to make it out safely. The victim's name was not released.

The family living on the other side of the duplex all escaped safely.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation, but officials said they had no reason to believe it was foul play.
