Dogs Looking For Good Home, Trust Fund Included

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Every day, dozens of pets go up for adoption on sites like Craigslist looking for a good home.  That's the case for two chocolate Labs in Bordeaux, but they come with something extra -- their very own trust fund.

The dogs are named Tory and Rex, and they're known collectively as "T-Rex."

They were originally owned by three senior family members, the last of whom died on New Year's Eve at the age of 106.  Before they died, one of them set up a trust fund for the two dogs that will pay for their lifetime of health care and grooming.

The niece of the original owner is currently looking after the dogs.  She says she can't keep them because they just don't get along with the two small dogs she already has.  Otherwise, she says the dogs are very playful, sweet, and affectionate.

She says the idea of a trust fund for dogs might seem a little crazy, but thinks more people should look into it.  "I think it's so responsible for a pet owner, especially if you know you're coming to the end of your days and you've got pets you want to be cared for," said J. Karen Thomas.  "I think it's such a beautiful and responsible and loving thing to do to set up a trust fund for them."

Thomas posted her ad on Craigslist for everyone to see.  She believes the best home will be one with lots of outdoor space for T-Rex to run around.
