NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A woman was critically injured after fire broke out at a south Nashville Apartment complex on Thursday night.

The fire started in a unit of the Mercury Court Apartments in the 400 block of Murfreesboro Road around 7:30 p.m.

Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoking coming from the apartment. Once inside, they found a woman suffering from smoke inhalation. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Her name was not immediately released.
