NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested on his fourth DUI charge after he was spotted driving recklessly by an officer on his way to work.
Madison Precinct Officer Peter Lynch was driving on Old Hickory Boulevard on Thursday night when he noticed a pickup truck that was swerving, rapidly changing lanes, and cutting off other drivers. Officer Lynch activated his emergency equipment, but the truck did not stop until it pulled into a driveway on Charlotte Pike.
The officer found 32-year-old Ashley Owen Miller in the driver's seat. Police said he smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and bloodshot watery eyes. A half empty can of beer was found inside the truck.
Miller refused to take part in standard field sobriety tests, and was taken to General Hospital for a blood test.
Miller was charged with DUI-4th offense, evading arrest, and violation of the open container law.
He was released from jail Friday morning on $35,000 bond. A court date was set for April 15.
