Traffic Backed Up For Miles After Crash Near Downtown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 near downtown slowed drivers for miles in several directions.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. Friday on westbound I-24 just underneath the Shelby Avenue Bridge.

The right lanes were blocked. Officials said traffic coming into downtown on I-24 and I-40 was backed up for five miles.

Crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation expected to have the scene cleared by 5 p.m.

Eastbound traffic was not affected.

No word on any injuries.
