NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A home in Donelson suffered serious damage after a fire spread inside the home.
The fire broke out in the fireplace a little after 1 a.m. Tuesday at the home in the 2000 block of Deerwood Court.
The first crew on the scene had their hands full keeping the fire from getting any worse.
"The first arriving company didn't have any water. So they fought the fire by themselves until the next engine could get here. They did a heroic job in controlling this fire," said Doug Graves with the Nashville Fire Department.
One man was inside at the time, but he was able to escape the home without any injuries.
The home suffered significant smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
