CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- A man in a wheelchair was arrested after investigators said he took off in someone else's car for a joyride.

Sabrina Taylor told police 35-year-old Craig Funches, who has just one leg, was in a wheelchair in the Two Rivers Parking Lot. Taylor said she and her son offered him a ride in their rental vehicle.

"She was trying to do a good deed, and he takes off in her car," said Clarksville Police Public Information Officer Jim Knoll. "It's not often we get a crime with someone with one leg."

Taylor told police she stepped outside of the vehicle in the parking lot to speak to her son on a personal matter, but the next thing she knew, the man she was trying to help, took her car and headed toward North 2nd and College Street.

Investigators said when they located the car on Riverside Drive, Funches told a different story. He said he knew Taylor and was just going for a ride.

Police say Funches later admitted to taking the car, but planned to return it. He even reportedly contacted the rental car company to bring it back.

Funches was charged with joyriding. His bond was set at $250.
