Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have identified the man shot and killed by his estranged wife at a home in Hermitage on Wednesday night.

Police said 31-year-old Tiffany Spence called 911 around 8:30 p.m. to report that she had shot 29-year-old Fabian Spence on the front porch of his home on Stonewater Drive. Spence died at the scene.

Police said Tiffany Spence was cooperative, and told them she had gone to to the home to drop off the couple's two sons, ages seven and five. An argument developed, and she said Fabian attempted to pull out a pistol from his rear waistband.

Tiffany Spence said they struggled over the gun, but she was able to wrestle it from him and fire it. Fabian Spence died from what police said was a gunshot wound to his back.

The seven-year-old was in the home at the time of the shooting. The five-year-old was asleep in Tiffany Spence's car in the driveway.

Tiffany Spence was not charged. She was released after the interview, pending further investigation and discussion with the District Attorney's office.
