Germaine DavenportNASHVILLE, Tenn. - Police have identified the man shot and killed at a home in north Nashville on Wednesday night.
Witnesses told police 25-year-old Germaine Davenport was outside of the home of a relative in the 3000 block of Ewingwood Drive around 10 p.m. when four to five men confronted him. Multiple shots were fired at Davenport, who made it inside the house where he died.
Davenport's grandmother told NewsChannel 5 her grandson was a cheerful and nice young man. She desribed what happened prior to the shooting.
"Him and his girlfriend was in the car, and he got out running, and whoever the guys were they shot him in the back, running into the house," said Joyce Brent.
The victim's girlfriend was not hurt, but she was taken to the police station for questioning.
Officials said the four to five men, wearing dark clothing and armed with long guns and handguns, fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
There were several bullet holes in the door of the home, and detectives marked at least seven shell casings on the ground.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
