NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two suspects have been taken into custody after a brief chase and manhunt in the Bordeaux area.
The incident happened near a wooded area along County Hospital Road just off of Briley Parkway.
Don Aaron with the Metro Nashville Police Department said agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency were conducting a "takedown" on Brickdale Lane in North Nashville.
During the takedown, one of the DEA agents fired a shot at the suspects' vehicle. The car fled the scene with troopers from the Tennessee Highway Patrol in pursuit.
The suspects fled on Briley Parkway toward County Hospital Road, about ten miles away, where they stopped the vehicle. A male suspect jumped out and fled on foot.
Troopers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect.
The other male suspect continued in the vehicle to the Davidson County Drug Court. He jumped out of the car and ran inside the drug court with an infant.
The suspect apparently handed the infant to a drug court employee and handed them a number to call for someone to come pick up the baby.
A helicopter from the Department of Safety and K-9 units were also brought in to help find the suspects.
Officials were able to take the second suspect into custody.
Aaron said the MNPD was not directly involved in the incident, although video from Sky 5 showed several squad cars responded to the area.
The names of the suspects were not available.
Officials from the Department of Children's Services were called in to investigate because the case involved an infant.
No one was injured.
