Goodwill Hosts Annual Wedding Gala

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A line started forming Friday night in Rivergate for Goodwill's Fourth Annual Wedding Gala.  The store spend most of Friday preparing for the huge event.  Last year, more than 350 people were already waiting outside before the doors opened.

The gala will include more than 1,000 dresses, 500 of them are wedding gowns and they're all affordable for virtually any budget. Prices range from $49 to $399 and under $30 for bridesmaids and prom gowns.  Most of them are brand new, donated from area bridal boutiques.

"They were sample dresses that they graciously gave us and upwards of  $9,000.00 is what they're worth." said Jamie Berry, spokesperson for Goodwill.

The Goodwill Wedding Gala is Saturday morning.  Festivities with food run from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  Shoppers can continue to shop for gowns until the store closes Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.

"It's so rewarding to see people that morning in their gowns and mothers crying. I know I've shed a few tears each year," said Natisha Moultry, Goodwill Community Relations Manager.

"This is a way we can give back to our mission, which is to provide jobs and job training for those who struggle to find work," said Berry. "And we can help brides who are on a budget at the same time, so it's a win-win situation."
