NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The SEC basketball tournament and a first-of-its-kind St. Patrick's Day celebration in Nashville have been bringing out thousands of people from all over the South -- to the delight of shops and businesses downtown.
This is the latest big event to draw people from Music City... and businesses said they always see a sales boost with special events like these.
Some stores seeing the benefit of the extra foot traffic from the SEC tournament said they're noticing that fans of certain teams actually spend more than others.
"The ones I've noticed spending the most are Kentucky fans, whether they're here for basketball -- and most of them are here for the whole four days because they thought they'd be in the championship game tomorrow," said business owner Sonya Haskins.
Because of the event Saturday, Broadway was to be closed to traffic between 3rd and 4th streets until midnight.
