Victim In Quarry Crash Identified

Posted: Updated:

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Investigators have released the name of the worker killed Saturday in an accident at a local rock quarry. 52-year old John Boyd of Rockvale was driving an industrial truck at the Hoover Rock Quarry on Twin Oak Drive in Murfreesboro when it somehow fell off a 60-foot embankment.

The vehicle landed on its roof killing Boyd. Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the cause of the crash was still under investigation and could take days pending an autopsy and toxicology report.

The truck involved was an industrial type of vehicle made to navigate through the rock quarry only. It was not used on road. OSHA has been called in to conduct an inspection of the work site.
