Dog Alerts Residents To Fire In Robertson County

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. – A dog is being credited for alerting a couple to a fire in Robertson County overnight.

The couple was sleeping in a camper next to a barn they were converting into a home on Liebengood Road when their dog started barking around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. They looked outside to see flames and smoke coming from the building.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly, but had some issues getting water to the scene since the closest fire hydrants were a couple of miles away. The fire also damaged their camper.

The couple said they had 30 years of personal belongings inside the barn, which they had just started renovating into a home, It was burned to the ground. They did not have homeowners' insurance on the home, but said they plan to rebuild. 

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
