Police: Man Had 8-Year-Old Son In Backseat During Drug Deal
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested after police found him selling drugs out of his vehicle with his eight-year-old son in the backseat.
Police said they wired a man who had agreed to be a confidential informant, and set up a drug deal last week. The informant met the suspect, Nelson Beatty, at K-Mart on South Gallatin Pike. Officers listened to the man and Beatty as they made a drug deal.
According to the affidavit, Beatty handed him a DVD sleeve with cocaine inside, and the CI handed him fake money provided by police.
Undercover officers followed Beatty when he left, and pulled him over on Rivergate Parkway.
When officers tried to arrest him, they said he struggled with police and threw out more drugs that he had on him. During a search, they also found more cocaine in his pocket.
The affidavit said his son was in the backseat of the car while this was happening.
Beatty was taken into custody, and charged with multiple drug charges, including possession of drugs within a drug free school zone because the deal happened within 1,000 feet of Enrichment Preschool.
