Shawn Tipton
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been arrested in connection with the bomb threat at the Bedford County courthouse on Wednesday.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office charged 24-year-old Shawn Haven Tipton, of Bellbuckle, with filing a false report. Authorities did not release what led to his arrest, or his motive for calling in the threat.
The courthouse on Public Square in Shelbyville was evacuated for about an hour on Wednesday after the threat was called into 911. Authorities also cleared the nearby area while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation brought in bomb sniffing dogs to clear the building. Nothing was found.
In November, the Bedford County Courthouse was one of 30 courthouses in Tennessee that received bomb threats as part of a multi-state threat. Lonny Bristow, of Ohio, was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with those threats.
