NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two people were injured when a tractor trailer overturned on Interstate 40 on Thursday afternoon.
Witnesses told police it appeared the driver of the truck may have fallen asleep when he lost control and ran off the side of the eastbound lanes near exit 219 around noon.
The driver and a passenger were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. One of them was seriously injured, but it was unclear which one. No identities were released.
The right lanes of the interstate were closed for about an hour while police worked to clear the scene.
