North Nashville Couple Accused Of Putting Child In Oven

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A North Nashville couple was arrested after police said they repeatedly put their 5-year-old child inside an oven as punishment.

34-year-old Lavelldo Washington and 23-year-old Corneisha Wilkerson were charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect.

Authorities said their daughter told investigators her parents would put her inside an oven that was turned off.

The couple was also accused of abusing their 2-month-old daughter.

Investigators said the infant was brought into Monroe Vanderbilt Children's Hospital with a broken leg and bruises back in March of 2012.

Washington and Wilkerson were both being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
