Man Charged With Arson In Fire That Destroyed Donelson Home

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been charged after fire investigators said he started a fire that destroyed a Donelson home and left a firefighter injured.

Daniel Wise was charged with aggravated arson in connection with the fire on Dunmore Drive early Tuesday morning. Investigators said he is the ex-boyfriend of the homeowner.

Fire officials said a 60-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son were home when the fire broke out in the garage area around 1:45 a.m. They were able to escape the blaze unharmed.

A firefighter working to put out the fire suffered a shoulder injury when a beam fell on him. Joshua King, 30, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze, but the home was destroyed. The Red Cross responded to the scene to help the family.

Wise has a hearing set for next week. The investigation was ongoing.
