MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Three Veterans from middle Tennessee were able to take part in a plane ride to remember Wednesday.

They all live at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, and all of them served during Vietnam.

They got to take a flight in a de Havilland Beaver in honor of their military service and love of flying.

Lynn Holliday was one of those veterans who got to fly Wednesday.  He served more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy.

He had always studied to be a pilot, but never actually got his license because he couldn't afford it.

Holliday said he'll never forget the 15-minute flight that he went on Wednesday, especially because he got to take over the controls midway through.

"I've always liked to fly, and do things like that," Holliday said.  "It's always enjoyable when you get a chance ."

Wednesday's Veterans flights were made possible through a partnership between the Tennessee State Veterans' Home and MTSU.
