Police: Pair Beat Man Who Refused To Buy Sudafed

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police said two men severely beat another man who refused to buy them Sudafed.

An affidavit said Thomas Greer and Justin Ray confronted the victim about buying Sudafed at the Walgreens on Gallatin Pike, but he refused. They followed the victim down McFerrin Avenue into a church parking lot, where the affidavit said they knocked him down, and kicked and punched him for an unknown period of time.

When police found the victim, he was barely breathing and unconscious. He suffered a neck injury that will require him to wear a brace.

Sudafed is tightly regulated because its main ingredient pseudoephedrine is used to make methamphetamine. Purchases of the medication are tracked closely by pharmacists.

Greer and Ray were charged with aggravated assault.
