73-Year-Old Lewis Co. Man Charged With Wife's Murder

LEWIS COUNTY, Tenn. – A Lewis County man has been charged with first degree murder in the death of his wife.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 73-year-old James Hobbs ran over his wife, 69-year-old Janice Hobbs, with his vehicle on Highway 99 West on Tuesday. Authorities said it happened during an ongoing domestic that started at their home on Gaither-Hinson Road in Waynesboro.

Janice Hobbs died as a result of her injuries.

The couple owned Buffalo River Canoe Rental.

The TBI was called in to investigate at the request of District Attorney Kim Helper.
