Clarksville Couple Charged With DUI Had Child In Backseat

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A Clarksville couple was arrested after police said they were intoxicated at a fast food restaurant drive-thru with an 8-year-old in the back seat of their car.

Police were called to the Taco Bell on N. Riverside Drive around 12:19 a.m. Friday and found a 1997 Ford Thunderbird in the drive-thru with a woman unconscious in the passenger seat. There was also an 8-year-old in the backseat.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Nathaniel Neuner, got out of the car and told police he was driving because his wife, Autumn, didn't feel good and needed an ambulance. Officers noticed that Nathaniel had slurred speech and pinpoint pupils. Officers said Nathaniel failed field sobriety tests, and was taken into custody.

Police said they learned Autumn had been driving the vehicle earlier before switching to the passenger seat. Once she got out of the vehicle, police said she was unsteady on her feet, had difficulty staying away, and also had slurred speech. She told officers she had been taking medications throughout the night.

Autumn was taken to the hospital due to her level of intoxication, but was later taken into custody.

The child was turned over to DCS custody since officers were unable to locate another adult to take care of the child.

Both were booked into the Montgomery County Jail on DUI and contributing to dependency charges. Their bond was set at $2,000.
